Kelsey Mitchell earned yet another honor on Thursday night as she received the 2018 Dawn Staley Award, given annually to the nation's top guard.
The honor comes after Mitchell had perhaps the best and most complete season of her career. Not only did she finish the season as the nation's No. 3 scorer, averaging 24.3 points per game, she dished out a career-high 148 assists and had a career-low 78 turnovers.
Congrats to our special awardee of the Dawn Staley Award @Kelz_Hoop whos everyones all-american and @LaChinaRobinson one of our games best storytellers. WBB is in good hands with these two leading us. #salute to @ghorsey424 for always putting together a great event! pic.twitter.com/YexaLMzmiI

Mitchell becomes the seventh winner of the award, joining a star-studded list of previous winners which includes Skylar Diggins, Odyssey Sims, Tiffany Mitchell, Moriah Jefferson and Kelsey Plum – all of whom currently play in the WNBA.
The other finalists for this years award were Asia Durr (Louisville), Victoria Vivians (Mississippi State) and Kia Nurse (Connecticut).
This is just one more award for Mitchell to add to an impressive collection of honors. Last month, Mitchell was named the Big Ten Player of the Year for the third time in four seasons and became Ohio State's first-ever four-time All-American.
Mitchell ended her career as the NCAA Division I second all-time leading scorer, made more three-pointers than anyone in NCAA history and has the most consecutive games with a made three-pointer.
