Ohio State’s regular-season finale vs. Iowa was the most-watched regular-season women’s college basketball game since 1999.

An average of 3.39 million viewers tuned in to watch Sunday’s game on FOX between the Buckeyes and Hawkeyes, the highest viewership for any regular-season women’s college basketball game since 3.88 million people watched UConn play Tennessee on Jan. 10, 1999.

Those ratings undoubtedly got a boost from the record that was on the line Sunday for Iowa star Caitlin Clark, as she became the all-time leading scorer of either gender in NCAA basketball history by scoring 18 points in the first half to reach 3,668 points, surpassing Pete Maravich’s record.

Iowa won Sunday’s game, 93-83, to snap a 15-game winning streak for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State’s first game against Iowa this season, which the Buckeyes won 100-92 in overtime, drew an average of 1.93 million viewers on NBC, making it the most-watched regular-season women’s college basketball game since 2010 at the time.

CBS could reap the ratings rewards of another Ohio State vs. Iowa matchup if the Buckeyes and Hawkeyes – the No. 1 and 2 seeds in the Big Ten Tournament – both reach the championship game in Minneapolis this weekend, with Sunday’s final set for a noon tip-off.
