Diana Collins is heading elsewhere after just one season as a Buckeye.
The 5-foot-9 guard from Lilburn, Georgia entered the transfer portal on Friday.
In her lone season in Columbus, Collins averaged 3.0 points and 1.2 rebounds while shooting 30.3% from the field and 22.2% from beyond the arc in 9.8 minutes per game (18 games) this past season. She scored nine points in 21 minutes in her second collegiate game against IUPUI on Nov. 12 and 10 points in 13 minutes against Northwestern on Jan. 5 but didn't score in her final five appearances of the season, in which she totaled just 18 minutes.
Collins becomes the second Buckeye to enter the transfer portal since last Sunday's season-ending loss to Duke in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, joining guard Emma Shumate, who entered the portal on Wednesday.
With the loss of Shumate and Collins, paired with Jacy Sheldon and Celeste Taylor graduating, Ohio State has a lot to replace at guard. That said, OSU is still set to return Madison Greene, Kennedy Cambridge and Kaia Henderson at guard, with Rikki Harris also having the option to return for another year of eligibility. Two top-100 prospects – shooting guard Ava Watson and five-star point guard Jaloni Cambridge, the younger sister of Kennedy Cambridge and a Gatorade National Player of the Year finalist – will join Ohio State's backcourt as part of the Buckeyes' 2024 recruiting class.
The Buckeyes could also look to add a veteran guard from the transfer portal to help replace Sheldon and Taylor in the starting lineup. As it stands, the Buckeyes have between two and four open scholarships for the 2024 season, pending the possibility of Harris and Eboni Walker each returning for a sixth year of eligibility.
