Like Macdonald, Minter joins Michigan’s staff after previously working for Jim Harbaugh’s brother John in Baltimore. Before becoming Vanderbilt’s defensive coordinator last season, Minter – the son of former Cincinnati head coach Rick Minter – was an assistant coach for the Ravens from 2017-20.
In his lone season at Vanderbilt, the Commodores ranked just 118th in total defense (457.3 yards allowed per game) and 119th in scoring defense (35.8 points allowed per game). Nonetheless, Harbaugh is entrusting Minter with taking over for Macdonald and running the Wolverines’ defense.
Minter was also previously the defensive coordinator at Georgia State (2013-16) and Indiana State (2011-12) before joining the Ravens.
