Man, there is nothing, and I mean nothing in sports that I enjoy more than a good old fashioned beef. The petty grudges that we carry with us as fans and observers of sport are a given, but when athletes and coaches get down in the much and mire with us, it is a sight that's just beautiful to behold.
Let's start with the local stuff first. Ryan Day got an extension and a ton of cash. Cheers, applause, etc. He's great and he's earned it by virtue of figuring out the Game Genie code for infinite yards in the NES version of college football. Chris Holtmann also got extended, and this is where Kevin (filling in admirably this week for Andy) and I stroke our beards and wonder along with you: why?
Secondly, and possibly even more entertainingly, Jimbo Fisher and Nick Saban are engaging in a petty war of words that I am actively rooting for from the sidelines. It's childish and dumb and I have to live vicariously through Aggie and Tide fans because frankly, the Big Ten's equivalent is thinly-veiled passive aggressive digs about third base or whatever.
Plus, Ask Us Anything (which you can do by sending us an email to dubcast@elevenwarriors.com) wants to know some animal facts. Here's an animal fact for you, I love animals. They are cool.
