Houston's Thursday night upset of No. 5 Louisville was good for the Cougars' #brand and recruiting. Unfortunately for Coogs fans, Texas boosters were watching, and it reportedly convinced them Charlie Strong needs to go.
From Brett McMurphy of espn.com:
Texas' administration is receiving "extreme pressure" from prominent boosters to dismiss Charlie Strong and hire Houston coach Tom Herman, sources told ESPN.
Earlier this week, Strong's job was considered safe if the Longhorns (5-5) won out against Kansas and TCU. However, that all changed when Houston upset No. 5 Louisville Thursday, sources said.
Though a California native, Herman comes with strong Texas roots and has proven he whip a program into shape. If Texas doesn't poach him, some other school looking for a resurrection (like LSU?) probably will.
