A couple months ago, Ohio State was looking at Olentangy Liberty's Ben Roderick as a possible addition to its 2019 class.
But it decided to go in a different direction, eventually targeting a big man and landing Ibrahima Diallo on Sunday. Roderick, who held out for an offer from the Buckeyes, ended his recruitment on Monday by committing to Ohio University, where he will play under newly hired head coach Jeff Boals. Boals coached on Thad Matta's staff from 2009 to 2016, and the addition of Roderick is a major coup.

Other power conference programs, including West Virginia and Wisconsin evaluated Roderick, who missed substantial time after suffering a torn ACL during his junior season. But they did not offer him a scholarship, and he chose to remain in his home state.
Roderick is the No. 222 overall prospect and the seventh-best player from Ohio in his class, per 247Sports composite rankings.
