Well this was a lousy weekend. After winning 2 of 3 against West Virginia and scoring the most runs in a game since 2002, the Buckeyes came home and could not get anything going in terms of runs, in large part due to leaving men stranded.
Game 1 on Friday was pathetic from the start. A leadoff single by the Hoyas and then a home run two batters later put Georgetown ahead 2-0 in the T1, and they would not relinquish that lead. Ohio State did manage to get one run in the B1 off a bases loaded walk, scoring Trey Lipsey, but that was all they got for the day. Ohio State would leave the bases loaded one more time and had a couple more innings leaving 2 on base for a total of 11 stranded, combined with a 3-run T7 allowed Georgetown to pull away for the 5-1 win. Game 2 on Saturday went pretty much the same way, however with a bit more scoring. Ohio State got off to a 2-0 lead in the B1 off an RBI-single by Tyler Pettorini to score Henry Kaczmar, and Matthew Graveline getting home off an error, but the Buckeyes would leave two stranded. Georgetown scored 1 in the T3 and then used a 5-run T5 to take a 6-2 lead. Ohio State threatened a comeback as Lipsey hit a 2-RBI single to score Graveline and Joseph Mershon in the B5 and then Nick Giamarusti scoring on a wild pitch, but the Hoyas got some insurance runs in the T8 to hold on for the 8-5 win. Ohio State left 13 men stranded, 5 times leaving 2 on base, as starting pitcher Colin Purcell recorded the loss, dropping him to 1-3

Looking to avoid the sweep in Game 3 on Sunday, Ohio State took the early lead in a 2-run B3 as Josh Stevenson scored despite a double play behind him and Kackzmar scored off an error, but that was just about it for the Buckeyes. Georgetown would score 1 in the T5 and that would be the score until the 9th. The Hoyas would tie the game in the T9, but leave it at that. With a chance to win the game in the B9, the LOB stat would rear its ugly head as Ohio State would get two on base with one out but could not bring them home. Georgetown scored 2 in the T10 to take their first lead of the game and that would be the decider as Ohio State would, again, leave 2 men on base, for a total of 9 in the game, giving Georgetown the 4-2 win and the series sweep. After the sweep, Ohio State dropped to 10-11, and Georgetown improved to 16-7.
